Charles B. PAYTON, 66, resident of Waveland more than 20 years and retired carpenter, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday Dec 19, 1962 in the Veteran's Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been in failing health for several years. Payton was born in MO March 15, 1896, son of John and Emma Risk Payton. He was married in Crawfordsville April 24, 1926, to Cecil Krout. She preceded him in death by 24 years. He was a member of the Alamo Christian Church and a veteran of WWI. Survivors include two sons, Charles and Bill and a nephew, Raymond Busenbark. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, Waveland, Rev. Lester Niles officiated. Burial in Alamo Cemetery. -- kbz
